The former Chicago Tribune Columnist Bob Greene used to write about anything and everything Chicago. I remember a column that Greene wrote about Chester Burnett, aka “The Howlin’ Wolf” who grew up in White Station, MS.

After the Rolling Stones played a concert at the Chicago Stadium back in the early 1970’s, Mick and the boys decided to go to the legendary blues club “The Checkerboard Lounge” but Keith Richards went to the Chicago home of “The Howlin Wolf.”

At this time, Mr. Burnett was on dialysis for kidney failure, and he and Mr. Richards sat in Burnett’s basement and jammed on their guitars well past 1:00 a.m……

That’s what the Rolling Stones, and especially Keith Richards thought of Mr. Chester Burnett, aka “The Howlin’ Wolf.”
